Science

Every time you use your mobile phone, that is science. When you cook food, walk, drive in a car, watch TV, you are using science. YOU are science. And there is nothing more fascinating, fulfilling or challenging than deepening your understanding of yourself and the world around you.

Science knows no country, because knowledge belongs to humanity, and is the torch which illuminates the world

Louis Pasteur

“Every brilliant experiment, like every great work of art, starts with an act of imagination.”

During Science lessons at Middlewich High School we use our imaginations, critical thinking and scientific knowledge to solve problems, taking us from wonderment to understanding. We aim to inspire “eureka” moments, leading to further questions and curiosity. Through our broad and balanced curriculum, we enhance understanding of natural and man-made phenomena, encourage students to challenge their perceptions and develop an evidence-informed view of the modern world.

We explore all aspects of science in a logically sequenced manner, beginning with the basics and building on existing knowledge and skills throughout key stage 3 and 4, to develop a deep understanding of complex scientific principles. Pupils become ambitious, passionate learners who are intrigued to learn more about the world around them, developing enhanced resilience and independence.
