Personal Development
Our Personal Development curriculum aims nurture our young people’s sense of citizenship and to promote their spiritual, moral, social and cultural (SMSC) development at every opportunity. We also endeavour to ensure that our learners have regular opportunities, both through the curriculum and the wider life of our school, to reflect on and demonstrate the values that underpin British society and life.
Each year group will study a combination of units which are age appropriate; support the pastoral and academic curriculum and provide students with a curriculum that is suited to their age, key-stage and year group.
The Personal Development curriculum develops the knowledge, skills and attributes they need to manage their lives, now and in the future and to prepare them for their next stage in education. It helps children and young people to stay healthy and safe, while preparing them to make the most of life and work in our rapidly changing world.
Our values include:
- Equality and respect
- Tolerance and celebration of diversity
- Rights and responsibilities
- Democracy and the rule of law
- Citizenship and community
- Kindness and consideration
Our Personal Development curriculum is delivered during dedicated Personal Development lessons and a variety of subjects including:
